A First-Time Traveler's Guide to Umrah Transportation
What to expect when arranging transportation between the airport, your hotel and the holy cities.
An introduction to Saudi Arabia's mountain city and its cooler summer climate.
Perched in the mountains above Makkah, Taif has long served as a cooler retreat during the warmer months — and it makes for an interesting addition to a longer Saudi itinerary.
Taif sits at a noticeably higher elevation than Makkah, which gives it a milder climate for much of the year. For travelers already in the region, it is close enough to visit as a day trip or short stay without a major detour.
The route up to Taif winds through mountain scenery that is quite different from the coastal and desert landscapes elsewhere in the region. A private vehicle allows for a more comfortable pace on the mountain road compared to a shared or fixed-schedule option.
Because Taif is often a side trip rather than the main destination, it works well as an add-on to a longer stay in Makkah. Letting your transportation provider know you would like to include Taif in your plans makes it easier to arrange as part of a single itinerary.
